(28 Oct 2019) STARS GO GLAM FOR GOVERNORS AWARDS
Hollywood stars from Lupita Nyong’o to Florence Pugh went glam on Sunday (27 OCTOBER) at the Governors Awards, the unofficial kickoff to Hollywood’s awards season.
Dakota Johnson wore a two-piece dress. «Well, I’ve never been to the Governors Awards before, and I thought it would be a nice fancy dress to wear. I like that it’s two pieces and it feels really special and it’s fun and I like that,» she said.
Florence Pugh said her character in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming «Little Women» adaptation inspired her gown.
«In true Amy March fashion, I decided to come as vibrant and big as possible, and I’m wearing Valentino. Yeah, fluff me baby, fluff me,» she said.
Saoirse Ronan, who stars with Pugh in the movie, added: «And I’m wearing Emilia Wickstead, who is an amazing designer and she’s also a massive ‘Little Women’ fan. And she has a top from her new collection that actually has the girls names embroidered onto the sort of chest area of the top.  So, yeah. And I also just really wanted to wear pants.»
Lupita Nyong’o was joined by her «Us» director Jordan Peele on the carpet.
«I like the fact that you always just come correct with a completely different look. It just gives me a nice, like appreciation for fashion that I don’t have. But no, it’s it’s effervescent. You know, come on. It’s really hard to walk down right after her, on the carpet. You know, follow her on the carpet. I swear that the cameras start tilting. My camera start tilting towards her. So I don’t like it as much anymore,» Peele said.
«Judy» star Renée Zellweger, meanwhile, says she went «old Hollywood» with her dress.
«Oh. Oh, it’s classic. You know, it feels like it’s old Hollywood. And while you’re out in the tradition of celebrating Hollywood, why not? It’s Erdem, it’s an old lovely brand, classic,» she said.
